Showcasing the film Sittwe, in an effort to spread awareness on the plight of Rohingya Refugees being cast out of Myanmar, the associate producer Rares Michael Ghilezan, will answer questions on the complex conflict. Student Action Volunteer Effort is organizing this to promote the spirit of international giving. Team members Alison Howard, Elaiza Villegas, and Madeline Marmion will share their experiences witnessing the integration of different ethnic groups in orphanages, poor water conditions, and all the beautiful children they were able to work with on their last service trip in April. 

50% of the proceeds from the event will go towards Coz Bazar Refugee Camp located in Bangladesh where Ghilezan will arrive June 2nd. The other 50% will be donated to Grace orphanage in Okkan to purchase a water filter for their contaminated well. 

Associate Producer Rares Michael Ghilezan Studied diplomacy at Boston University and worked at the UN Human Rights Council in 2006, before becoming an attorney. Practicing law out of Los Angeles, he has represented women victims of sexual abuse both in the United States and Central America. He has also been involved in community facilitation and reconciliation programs in LA county through his involvement with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office. Rares became involved in human rights advocacy in Burma after visiting Rohingya communities in Rakhine state in Burma in 2016.
