Women, Spirituality, and Transformative Leadership: Where Grace Meets Power by Kay Lindahl

As a woman of spirit and faith, you know something important.  You know it from your rich experiences in the world, and you know it from a place of deep wisdom within.  Your unique pattern of knowing is part of a larger pattern of feminine wisdom being called forth at this time in service of this Earth and of humanity.

This powerful invitation to participate was generated out of a deep sense of knowing that this is the time, the time for women to emerge as equal partners in the world.  We believe that all women are leaders in their lives, most not yet acknowledged as such. There is something about the language of these few words that inspires women to action. They have led us on an amazing journey over the past two years, including the birth of this book.

It started at The Parliament of the World’s Religions in Melbourne, Australia, in December 2009. This Parliament was buzzing with feminine energy. People everywhere were
talking about Earth-based spirituality, the Sacred Feminine, feminine principles, the full
inclusion of women, women’s leadership and the critical global issues facing women and their children. Little pink buttons with the question “What happens when women lead?” showed up, sprinkled liberally among the 6,000+ attendees and there was a full page of workshops listed under the Program Cluster “Women in Leadership.” One woman observed with surprise and delight: “The Sacred Feminine is the rock star of this Parliament!” Continue reading

TAKE YOUR POWER AT YOUR DESK WITH FENG SHUI!

The placement of your desk, according to Feng Shui principles, is vital to your success with your business and how you manage your life. You want to make sure that you are in the “commanding position” in order to be in control of your life circumstances and to see all the opportunities that come your way.

You need to be able to see the door but not be directly aligned with it. The energy or ”chi” enters from the door and you don’t want to be in a vulnerable position with everything coming right at you. You want to be able to clearly see every situation that comes into your life, otherwise you will feel a lack control which can cause anxiety. The best place for your desk is to be tucked away with as much view of the room as possible, preferably with a wall behind for you to be solidly supported from the back. If you can not sit facing the door, place a mirror on your desk or the wall in front of you to reflect the door. If you have a window behind you, put plants, shades, or furniture there as a buffer between you and the window.

Try to be organized and reduce any clutter that can stagnate your business or create a lack of clarity. Make sure your chair is comfortable while you sit at your “throne” and set your intention for success and prosperity in your life.
An Affirmation for You:  “I ATTRACT MAGNIFICENT PEOPLE AND OPPORTUNITIES INTO MY LIFE, WHICH BRINGS ME UNLIMITED SUCCESS AND PROSPERITY!”

Mary Rose Villanova will be at Mystic Journey Bookstore on Sunday, April 15 at 5:30 pm discussing how to successfully attract love into your life using Feng Shui principles.

Images in Praise

From Photographer Robert Radin

The pictures in “In Praise of Mother Earth” – some of which I took – are used to add beauty and dimension to the words of this noble book. Words that are drawn in wisdom, found in hope, cast in faith, sifted by endless time, delivered by prophesy, timeless in worth, cloaked in understanding.
“In various ancient spiritual traditions, human beings were looked upon as part of nature, linked by the indissoluble spiritual and psychological bonds to the elements around them” (from the forward). Continue reading

The Power of Curiosity

The more you do the simple practice of closing your eyes, taking a deep, slow breath, and imagining yourself as empty space, the more you realize that you are not your thoughts, but that you are still here. Then these deeper, unconscious thoughts will have room to surface in you. They will likely trigger old feelings of anxiety, fear, shame, guilt, anger, resentment, sadness, or some other form of unease, of suffering.

Then you have to be really present with these feelings, this deeper angst. You have to be very alert, watchful, almost like a scientist in your curiosity to discover what is true in you. Past memories, usually of something traumatic that happened long ago in childhood, may arise. Continue reading

Are You Depressed?

First Published in The Huffington Post 03/31/2012

“I don’t know who discovered water but I don’t think it was a fish.” –Marshall MacLuhan

Since the time of Hamlet — “But two months dead, nay, not so much, not two” — our culture has deemed that the bereavement period should last approximately two months. After that time, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, eight of the nine symptoms that characterize bereavement now characterize depression. Continue reading

To Live a Name

“…….a novel about a time that preceded our modern era where sages
and gifted matriarchs in an island culture inspired and guided the
people. Spiritual seeds are hidden inside the book and those seeds are
designed to take life in all who are karmically ripened to receive them.”

The writing of My Name is Mahataa was inspired by my maternal grandmother. I was always intrigued by her name, Mahataa, which in Sanskrit means “great one” or “greatness” or “mightiness.” How in the world, on a tiny island sandwiched between China and Japan, could she have received this unusual name?

No one in our family knew since Mahataa’s parents perished when she was very young.  Because I could find no explanation, I took liberty to invent how she must have received it.  Although I say that I invented large portions of the story, I must say that these stories poured effortlessly from my fingertips to the keyboard and it makes me pause to appreciate that our cells hold memories of all who have come before us.  Who is to say that this book is entirely fiction when these characters simply came alive for me?

The book is a spiritual fantasy with the historical backdrop of 1900 Okinawa where Mahataa, as a young girl, encounters exceptional teachers.   She receives instructions in Clear Mind Meditation from a mysterious monk, skills of “manifestation” from a high priestess, the art of divination from a soothsayer, and indigenous healing methods from a medicine woman.  As Mahataa learns, so does the reader.  As Mahataa connects to the greatness of her name and destiny, so too will the reader connect to their higher power and greatness.

Investing Wisely This Spring

By Wendy Allamby C.Ht, AACP.

Spring has sprung!  This is a perfect and poignant time for new beginnings, fertility and re-birth.  It is upon this season of re-birth that I’d like you to ask yourself a simple question: If you knew with certainty that your thoughts and your words were co-creating your reality at this very moment, would you invest more wisely in those thoughts and words?  It assists us in understanding this concept by acknowledging first and foremost that everything is energy, even thoughts.  Please ask yourself if you’re investing energy toward that which you desire or investing into the self-entrapment of a negative or repetitive cycle. Understand that where your thoughts go, energy flows.

When we align our thoughts and our focus towards that which we want in our lives, we will begin to see signs of shift and transformation prevail.  These signs and pointers help as guidance to let us know for example that we are being heard, that we are on the right path and that things are indeed moving forward.

Adam Clayton Powell said ‘Human thought, like God, makes the world in its own image.’  What results are you seeing in your life and which are you seeking? When deciding on what we wish to attain having clarity is a key factor, as is faith.  Go within and listen to your heart for the truth of how you feel about it and don’t be swayed by ego in your choosing.   Continue reading

Kicked Out of the Nest

What I am actually saying is that we need to be willing to let our intuition guide us, and then be willing to follow that guidance directly and fearlessly. Shakti Gawain

Who knew in my 40’s that I would be kicked out of the proverbial nest.  After many years of searching for my true life purpose, I finally met  “the one”. I had been working with my healing tribe in New York making wonderful progress and all was looking up.  I decided to surrender, listen to my heart and leave my fast paced New York lifestyle behind by moving to New Mexico to further my healing and training.  Yet to be certain that this was a good decision, I asked the universe to put signs in my path with no mistaking the answer.  I asked, the universe answered!

Shortly after asking Spirit for guidance, I came home one evening from a gallery opening in the Chelsea Art District where I lived, and an old faded print of the quintessential Southwest cattle skull in a gold plastic poster frame was literally blocking my doorway! (1)  Just that alone would cause one to pause, however I had actually met a group of students from the Sante Fe School for the Arts at the gallery opening that night as well! (2)  I kid you not. Have you ever wondered if it’s in your destiny to be famous? What makes those Divas so dazzling and the Gents so gregarious?

Fabio Lanzoni

This iconic sex symbol was born under the lucky “Star of Rigel” with his 10th House of Career being fixed at 29 Degrees Leo. Whenever someone has anything at 29 Degrees Leo, they are destined to be recognized World Wide. (Example: Elizabeth Taylor also has this in her chart.)

He also has his South Node at 13 Degrees Aries, which means that he was a Warrior in a past life. As you can tell from his strong physique, he could definately plunder a village and rescue a fair maiden. His Scorpio Rising affects his face and his overall personality, which is what gives him his smoldering eyes and infamous sex appeal. And his North Node at 13 Degrees Libra is what made it his destiny to become a ladies man of love and to master the art of romance this lifetime.

But has he always wanted to be a precedent setting Supermodel? Unknown fact: “When I was growing up, I had always wanted to become a surgeon,” quotes the Italian Stallion. Because of his Mercury and Venus in his Sixth House of Health, he is extremely gifted at fixing broken bones and overall fitness. And I’m sure that all the ladies would appreciate his tender Piscean bedside manner.
